The right to vote

10/28/2020

Picture
Mujer Rgv understands the importance of talking about Mujeres & the power we have to change the outcomes of our election. Whether its state representatives, or presidential, we matter.
In the beginning of the 1800’s women began organizing & fighting anyway they could to gain the right to vote. It took them decades to get the amendment to Congress. Some fought at the state level, others challenged male-only voting laws in the court & others used such as picketing, silent vigils, and hunger strikes. By the time the House of Representatives passed the amendment, on May 21, 1919, many of the women & supporters who began the fight for our rights had passed.
Picture
Picture
Now where do we come into the picture? It is said that women are more engaged in politics then men, yet somehow we have  high chorionic non-voter numbers year after year. Many different problems come into play, our busy schedule, our place in the world; Mayne many of us feel like we wont make a difference. Whatever the case is, we know it’s time to start the conversation. We have about a week to get out there & perform our civic duty. Who we vote for affects us, our friends, our family, & of course, our children.
Picture
It’s time we show up to the polls & start showing the world, Texas, & the Rio Grande Valley that MUJERES ARE HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. No Te Dejes Mujer, know you matter & know that people have been fighting for your right to vote gave up their time, money, & most of their lives in hopes that a women like you would be able to do the things that they weren’t allowed to.
We have attached the Rio Grande Valley Voting polls below. You can vote anywhere in our county & curbside voting only take a few minutes, if that something you are interested. (We recommend)

A reminder of what you hold

Picture
We are so excited to share with you our newest collection! Each time we sit down to come up with something meaningful for our community, we think about what we want Mujeres we know,, & Mujeres we have yet to meet, to feel, to live, to remember.
Our main goal is always to represent different ways to ensure women we know & women we have yet to met, feel they can not only survive, but thrive. We know we want to share unique yet,  powerful messages. We wanted to create a few magical pieces that remind you of the love you have for yourself, & how far that has gotten you, not only this year, but all your life, Mujer. The love that women hold for themselves is true magic. It cannot be bought, or given, or faked. It is within us always, & we must learn every day to hold it at the forefront in order to perceive.
Picture
This collection, our “No Te Dejes” Collection, is about the MAGIC we MUJERES hold within us & use at different stages of our lives; In our careers, relationships, goals, & throughout our unique journeys. The reason we chose this particular saying in Spanish for our latest slogan is because we found that when having difficult discussions with our closest Mujers, “No Te Dejes“ was a reoccurring phrase used to make sure they didn’t let a situation or person get the best of them.
“No Te Dejes” is a phrase many times used to remind others to not let people take advantage of  them.
Picture
Many women we know in the RGV & outside of it, feel the world expects a lot from them; Some times too much, with giving them little in return. Many of us are expected to let things be, not shake things up, not expect more from others, & never stand up for ourselves. We understand the world may have expections of what we are supposed to look like, sound like, be like, but we must continue to reiterate, we are here to say SCREW THAT. Make noise, say no, & be you.
When it feels like the world is taking advantage of your kindness, your beauty, your love, your hard work, your heart, your tears, your ideas, your name, your joy, you must stand up & not let it. You must be the one to withhold your own magic first, & help others once you are able to with it, but you have to come first, Mujer. “No Te Dejes” also means that, Do not leave yourself. Whether you take that literally, or spiritually is up to you. What we love about this saying is you can make of it, whatever you need in that moment. It can be as unique as each Mujer we know, & what each one of us is going through.

Picture
Picture
Our new logo, found stitched in white or lavendar in our grey & black beanies, is our attempt to remind you that we are everything we need. We are the moon, & the center of our entire universe. By combining our flower, which has become a staple symbol of Mujer Rgv. & our new moon, we hope you have the reminder that you are you own entire universe.
Along with our beanies, were launching something we have had our eye on for a while! Super soft hoodies perfect for the upcoming fall & winter weather. Of course, “Not Te Dejes” is printed on them, right above the heart, where we hope you keep this saying. Our hoodies are cropped & available in both black & white, with draw strings at the front & a raw hem for maximum comfort. If you’re looking for a fitted look, shop your regular size, but of course, if you’re looking for that extra comfy feel, going a size or two up is always a great move as well. Pair our hoodies with our new beanies, & you have an easy, but oh so meaningful look.

Our entire collection is printed in Mcallen, Tx at MGM Printing, a company managed by a local Mujer. We love supporting them, & hope you will continue shopping with us to continue to bringing you more quality products.

When you wear our clothing we hope you feel strong enough to FIGHT for that raise. LEAVE that unsupportive partner. WAVE GOODBYE to all that you deem unnecessary.  Say NO to being overworked & underpaid. Say NO To being held down. Say NO to holding YOURSELF down. You are more magical than you no Mujer. No Te Dejes, y NUNCA te vuelvas a Dejar.

Mujer Rgv- october

10/10/2020

Picture
The month of October is usually spent watching spooky movies & dressing up as others. Mujer Rgv is a huge fan of those things, but for this month we thought we’d take SPOOKY SEASON a little more literal & motivate you to watch yourself do SPOOKY THINGS in real life, & DRESS as YOUR ULTIMATE BRAVE YOU.
Of course, empowerment is one of the main pillars that makes Mujer Rgv what it is, & we thought, what if we spent this entire month reminding our local RGV ladies, to do that they are capable of doing those things that they fear most? We hope to remind you to trust in your own magic, & to push yourself further by believing in what lies within you with this challenge.
Picture
We have a few things planned for this month which scare us too: A new launch, a physical pop up, & an interview that might be most difficult one we’ve done yet, but we wanted to introduce this months theme by sharing a small challenge of things we can begin to do today.
Picture
Some of the things on this list may seem easy for some, & hard for others, but are meant to take you out of your comfort zone NOW. What may seem silly for some MUJERES, might seem very difficult for others to conquer, & that is the beauty of our community, we are all so different, with different challenges in our daily lives, but we CAN CONQUER ANYTHING TOGETHER. Whether your conquering self doubt, image issues, finding strength, or finding happiness, we hope you find something that pushes you a little on this list.
Share what your pushing yourself to conquer this month in a picture & tag us & hashtag #mujerrgvmagic to be entered to win something super fun that we are launching very very soon & a feature on our blog/social medias!

If you don’t find something that challenges you on our list, choose something out of your own list! The point is to push us all out of our comfort zone & to know we are doing something together this month.

Stay tuned for more coming from us very soon Mujer! Leave a comment down below if you want more challenges like this from us!

missing our mujeres

Picture
It feels like forever ago that we enjoyed the loving feeling of our Mujer community coming together thanks to the unforeseen circumstances of this year. Although we miss it dearly, we know we can't hold huge events filled with all the female vendors, female artists, & female musicians of the Rio Grande Valley, but we CAN however, support a small, female owned business, while enjoying a lovely & responsible Saturday afternoon full of powerful MUJER energy.

Mujer Es Poder- Launch

8/15/2020

Picture
Mujer Rgv claims back the year with a merchandise launch! As Covid19 began affecting our area at the beggining of the year, our main source of unity & revenue, our female oriented events & markets, became an almost impossible task. The quest began for more ways to share the MUJER message.
Picture

An Investment in our Future

Now more than ever, our community deserves a reminder that women, together, can overcome.  MUJER ES PODER, our new motto, is Spanish for "WOMEN ARE POWER," as well as "WOMEN MEANS YOU CAN." This is the inspiration behind all that we do from now on. As we launch our new line, our weekly blogs, & our online LIVE TALKS, we hope to remind everyone that no matter what this year has thrown at us, we can & will perceiver. We just need to ask for a helping hand.
Picture
Mujer Rgv may not unite women physically at the moment, but we can guarantee you a place that will continue to inspire hope, change, love, & most of all confidence in females who are working hard on themselves, & on journeys to better their lives.
No matter what size, shape, color ethnicity, background, fashion sense, or orientation, you can belong here.  This space if for all who chose to put work into it.

a Place Where you Belong

When purchasing our Mujer Es Poder Tee shirts, stickers, tote bags, or any other product, you are helping us continue to invest time, space, & money into future female supporting females projects, collaborations, lives, workshops, blogs, this website, future launches, & when the time finally comes, future physical events!
Picture
The back of our tee shirt was designed by Seems, our founder, as a bouquet for you. A bouquet that signifies all of us. Alone we are coveted, strong, & resilient, but can surely get a little lonely. Together, we are an array of beauty, strength, knowledge, encouragement, power, change; We are the flowers in a bouquet, slowly brightening the Rio Grande Valley with possibilities.
Picture
Picture

We are excited to connect with you, not through a handshake, a hug, or a face to face conversation like we so love to do, but through these heartfelt designs, these carefully curated products made especially for all women, & our excitement to continue the hard work it takes to make sure women in the RGV are heard, seen, & respected.

10% of all sales from this launch will be donated to RGV MUTUAL AID to help our local community in need.

Mujer RGV Year 1

8/8/2020

Mujer RGV began in March 2018 to gather a group of female artists to tour the RGV with acoustic music at local coffee shops in Edinburg, & Mcallen, Texas. I hoped I could find support within a community we built & feel safe enough to gain the confidence in believing in my own music, I wanted to meet the women of the RGV who wanted to support one another. We started with our first event in March 2018 at Grind Coffee Co, & boy have we grown as a community since then.

Mujer RGV turned 1 & we had a party! After a year of events, playing at different local businesses, & hundreds of connections with women creatives, entreprenuers, & their supporters, we thought it was time to change it up.

Usually Mujer RGV is known for throwing events, connecting woman on event days, & proving acoustic female oriented music for events. We thought we'd take it a step further & establish a meeting place, make official monthly meetings, & throw in some helpful self development classes for those women who want it. If you'd like to join us at Grindstone in Edinburg twice a month, email us at mujerrgv@gmail.com. Our membership fee of $10 is used to make sure we can keep having a professional meeting place.

Mujer RGV- The Workshop

9/4/2018

Coffee Shop Tour Turns Workshop

Mujer RGV-The Workshop is something I've been dreaming about for a minute. I learned how to throw events at my previous job, but being as how I have needed so much guidance and leadership in trying to write and perform my own music, I figured, I couldn't be the only one struggling to accomplish the things that I most want to. Many people forget that to be a successful artist,(really a successful anything) one must learn the basics of what it takes to build a foundation for whatever platform you're trying to conquer. The Workshop was created slowly. It's basis, was to create a safe space to unite women artists and entrepreneurs of all ages, and of all walks of life, to learn, grown, inspire, and connect with each other.

    Mujer Rgv

is project that I began to build a few years ago solely focused on building a community of female artists, entrepreneurs, & musicians in the Rio Grande Valley who wanted to support one another & help each other grow.  Slowly but surely it's turned into my biggest venture yet, leading events, workshops, online discussions, & all kinds of projects. With the help of my community, Mujer Rgv helps ensure the females of our area have a successful future, however that may look for them.

Follow up here for what I am working on, who's involved, how you can support, & how to get involved with Mujer Rgv.
